The Best Bedtime When You Have an Early Morning
Early wake-ups compress your options, but the same 90-minute math still applies. Instead of counting hours, count cycles: five or six cycles is the target, four is workable, three should be an occasional exception rather than a habit.
If a truly early bedtime isn't realistic, prioritize protecting the first few cycles of the night, since that's when the highest share of deep, physically restorative sleep happens.
A short 20-minute nap the following afternoon — timed to stay out of deep sleep — can take the edge off a short night without disrupting the next night's schedule.
